We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our team of the medical examiners and would like to invite applications from consultants to join our Medical Examiner service.
From 9th September 2024, it will be a legal requirement for all deaths in any healthcare setting not investigated by a coroner to be reviewed by the medical examiner. The Medical Examiner system offers independent scrutiny of deaths, gives bereaved people a voice, and provides them with support.
Medical examiners are accountable to medical directors within trusts but also have a separate professional line of accountability to the lead medical examiner and national/regional medical examiners. At present, the service is reviewing all deaths at UCLH, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), Moorfields Eye Hospital, Camden community, and soon The Royal Marsden Hospital. We have established working relationships with local GPs, care homes, and registrars. We are looking to fill sessions (1xPA) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
CV required with application.
Candidates must have successfully completed the mandatory e-learning modules online (free of charge) and attend a face-to-face training session at the Royal College of Pathologists, London, paid for by the Trust, within the first three months in post.
