Job overview

South West London & St. George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) provides mental health services to the residents of the London Boroughs of Wandsworth, Sutton, Merton, Kingston, and Richmond. The Trust is offering an opportunity to join the Internship Programme with the Wellbeing service at Merton Uplift, a Primary Care Mental Health service.

The Wellbeing Service is undertaking targeted work to reach people who may benefit form talking therapies, but for a range of reasons may not come forward for help. This includes carers, people from a Black, Asian or Minority ethnicity, older adults, and young men.

Interns will work with Wellbeing Practitioners  to support individuals and communities to improve access to psychological therapies through the delivery of  group work, collaborative community development and signposting in community and primary care settings. You will have the opportunity to work with our clinical teams if you are considering a career in psychology or other health professions.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of individuals as well as the wider community.

Through the internship programme the Trust aims to offer an opportunity for people to volunteer in real work settings to gain valuable experience that can support the pursuit of further training and/or employment. Opportunities for personal and professional development through Trust courses and local organisations are also offered.

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals who are aiming to pursue a career in Wellbeing, mental health, psychology or community development. Applicants should have excellent communication and engagement skills, as these will be a key requirement for the role. Applicants are advised that as a result of the high level of responses we receive for some of our vacancies, we reserve the right to close adverts early on receipt of sufficient applicants. As a consequence you are urged to submit your application as soon as possible.
