Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy team at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH)  in the new Paediatric Infectious Diseases Service.  You will lead on the development of a high-quality clinical pharmacy service for patients with infection,  expanding the existing OPAT service and advancing the Antimicrobial Stewardship strategy.

The post-holder will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team in a patient-facing role and will:

  • Work with the lead antimicrobial pharmacist to develop the antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) and OPAT service across RMCH.
  • Lead on the promotion of responsible, safe, and cost-effective prescribing of antimicrobials across paediatric services at MFT.
  • Lead on the education of pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals on all aspects of medicines management with regards antimicrobials across paediatric services at MFT.
  • Be responsible for the safe day to day operations for patients discharged on IV antimicrobials at RMCH.
