Who We Are:

IDART is a Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership multi-disciplinary community-based team which provides seamless support and a range of different interventions for individuals with drug and/or alcohol, blood borne virus Issues.

The philosophy of care for IDART:

IDART believes that by providing a range of evidence-based treatments and interventions, targeted at a person’s specific and unique needs, will enable them to make informed and realistic decision regarding their Drug & Alcohol use and recovery.

The aim of IDART:

  • To stop or reduce the intake of either Drug and Alcohol and prevent further harm, to either an individual, family member or community;
  • To identify carers and offer support;
  • To ensure harm reduction is offered to each individual at the point of contact;
  • To create a Recovery Oriented System of Care that all can experience a positive experience;
  • The service works on the basis of recovery which can be defined as an individual process;
  • To reduce the number of non-fatal overdoses and Drug related deaths.
  • To identify child and adult protection issues and reduce the risk to the most vulnerable.

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our existing integrated team, delivering a specialist service across Perth & Kinross HSCP.

The position requires an individual with extensive experience of working with people with a wide range of mental health problems, have specialist clinical knowledge of best practice in Mental Health & Substance Use and will be an excellent example to your colleagues in the delivery of compassionate and holistic person-centred care. You will possess excellent leadership, communication and service development skills and have a confident approach to multidisciplinary team working across Substance misuse, mental health and criminal justice services.

The person must display leadership skills, be innovative, creative, embrace change and have a sound core value base who wishes to join our P&K Integrated Drugs & Alcohol Recovery Team.

As Occupational Therapist, you will exhibit strong leadership and management skills, where you will influence and develop practice and will take forward new initiatives within a busy multi-disciplinary team. You will engage daily with team members from Social Work, Social Care and Nursing disciplines.

You will be responsible for liaising with our wider multi-disciplinary team and will support the delivery of safe, effective, person-centred care, you will supervise staff to ensure staff are providing psychosocial and psychological interventions.

IDART is committed to supporting ongoing personal and professional development to ensure we provide a quality service, and this can support this through CPD workshops, appraisals and in-service training. This post provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills including multi-disciplinary working, service development, quality improvement and leadership experience.

Perth and Kinross Occupational Therapy Service provides excellent formal and informal supervision, actively supports individual development through performance development review and learning plans, provide a framework for encouraging CPD and promotes innovative practice.

In line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside, the Allied Health Professions, will be moving towards 7 day working. This is for improved outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. Therefore all new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 5 out of 7 day service/rota to enable the service to be ready to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
