Bradford Nutrition and Dietetic Service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward thinking dietitian, looking to develop their leadership and management skills, to join our growing learning disability and mental health team.

Bradford’s Nutrition & Dietetic Service is a dynamic team of over 60 Dietitians working in Acute, Community and Primary Care settings, supported by an excellent clerical team with good IT and library facilities.

Bradford is a vibrant, diverse, multicultural city with a wide range of entertainment and leisure activities available locally.  There are good road and rail networks to Leeds and the M62 corridor, and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines

You will join a team of dietitians/specialist dietitians and dietetic assistant practitioners providing specialist community learning disability and in-patient/out-reach mental health services within our partner organisation Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT).

This new post will support the Bradford District and Craven ‘Improving Physical Health and Reducing Premature Mortality for People with Severe Mental Illness’ (SMI) action plan through leading our dietetic collaboration with the Physical Health and Wellbeing service to establish an outreach dietetic service for patients with SMI who may have a range of needs including antipsychotic related weight gain, nutrition support and gastrointestinal problems.

Strong leadership skills are required to develop a new dietetic service, including scoping dietetic service needs, collaborative working with a range of stakeholders and developing a programme of training and education for staff and service users.

You will provide clinical supervision and day to day management and support to dietetic colleagues. You will hold a specialist clinical caseload and recent relevant experience in either learning disabilities or mental health is therefore essential.

Applicants must be HCPC registered dietitians, who have obtained relevant clinical dietetic experience and who are car drivers with access to a car to meet the requirement for regular travel across organisational sites (reasonable adjustments will be considered)

You will have line management responsibilities and we are looking for a supportive and engaging leader who can develop and grow our team of dietitians.

You will fully participate in the training of ‘B’ and ‘C’ Placement student dietitians including undertaking the role of assessor.

Please see attached job description for more detail.
