The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a highly experienced and motivated Head of Operations for Estates to oversee the delivery of an efficient, safe and effective service across its sites.
The Head of Operations for Estates should be viewed as a strategic leader with a deep understanding of both operational and regulatory aspects of the Estates service.
Desired Qualifications:
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification. Membership of a professional body (e.g., BIFM, RICS).

Additional Considerations:
The role may involve working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet service demands. Based predominately at our Dewsbury and District Hospital site, the candidate should be prepared to travel between different Trust sites. Experience working in a healthcare environment would be advantageous.

The Head of Operations for estates will ensure the Estates service is fully compliant with all relevant regulations, standards, and advisory bodies, developing and implementing strategies to optimise resource allocation and achieve cost effective operations
You will align Estates services with the Trust's overall strategic objectives and service delivery plans whilst identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with Estates operations
You will provide expert advice and guidance to the Associate Director of Infrastructure and Chief Infrastructure Officer on the interpretation and application of relevant legislation. Be technical resource for the Estates team, offering expertise on building maintenance, engineering, and related fields.
Staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement and ensure that Estates services meet the needs of patients, staff, and the public by gathering feedback and implementing necessary changes.
By taking on these expanded responsibilities, the Head of Operations for Estates will play a more pivotal role in shaping the future of the Trust's Estates services and ensuring their alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
The post holder will manage all aspects of the Estate and PFI Operations service to provide a safe patient, staff and visitor environment.
The post holder will be the delegated budget holder for the relevant Estate Operations and PFI budgets and will act as an authorised signatory for Estate Operations Trust Orders to agreed levels detailed in the departments financial control procedures.
The post holder will lead, develop and maintain the departments operational procedures/policies and safe systems of work at all times to ensure the Trust is exposed to minimum risk in relation to its estate.
The post holder will be required to work in close partnership with other team members, in addition to working with external agencies and specialist advisers as required.
The post holder will take the lead role in ensuring that Estate Operations and manage the PFI team, provide an up to date information and input into the Trusts Performance Management Framework to enable the Estates Department to comply with the Trusts Corporate Governance Framework.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Infrastructure for Estate, PFI and Sustainability, you will be responsible for developing policies and strategies for the organisation, support of the Trust capital team together with providing expert specialist and professional construction and estates projects advice to estates staff, directors, senior management and external agencies.
