Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust is an outstanding provider of a range of community based services to the population of Derbyshire.

We are looking for a Head of Financial Account to join our strong and well established Finance Team.

This is a key leadership role in the Team and wider Trust and you will be the senior expert in all matters relating to Financial Accounting, working to develop and improve our processes and reporting on these areas. You will also provide training and development of the existing team through your line management expertise.

Main duties of the job

To provide comprehensive and professional financial accounting services to DCHS. This includes ensuring the integrity of the financial accounts, producing financial reports for internal and external customers, preparing final accounts, managing cash, implementing audit recommendations and having line management responsibility for members of staff who support the post holder.

Financial Accounting: application and interpretation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), using and interpreting the Annual Reporting Manual (NHS) and organisational policies and procedures. Lead on the collation of monthly financial reporting to sub-committees and Board in areas under the Financial Accounting remit. Co-ordinate and manage the submission of the Trust Annual Accounts.

Cash and Treasury Management: Cash management for DCHS including the production of medium and long term forecasts. Ensure the Trust’s working capital balances are managed effectively and that cash is maximised. Responsible for the management of the Trust’s treasury management function.

Capital: Oversee the management and monitoring of the Trust’s capital expenditure and ensure that the Fixed Asset register is maintained correctly and that the appropriate accounting records are maintained. Provide oversight and support in respect of IFRS16 lease accounting entries and revaluation exercises.
