Job overview

The post holder will be part of the adult and paediatric Haemophilia service which specialises in caring for patients with benign bleeding and clotting disorders and Haemochromatosis. Bleeding disorders can often have a profound impact on the patient’s life due to their complexity and complications. Responsibilities will include:

  • All aspects of co-ordination for the patients/service users
  • Day-to-day data input, ensuring data quality is maintained
  • Acting as a point of contact for the information requirements of the       haemophilia service
  • Assisting other members of the haemophilia team in all administrative   tasks.

The successful applicant will be based within the Adult Haemophilia Team and based in location D701 in Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Communication:

  • To support the triaging of referrals by liaising with key clinical staff
  • To manage patient communications both via telephone  and through     Trust systems to create letters, emails    and text reminders
  • To act as a point of contact for queries from clinical and non-clinical   staff

Organising and Planning:

  • To receive outpatient referrals from primary care and other sources     and register referral details  onto PAS in accordance with the Trust’s Outpatient Standards
  • To manage and monitor all outstanding appointment requests through the Trust’s Patient   Administration System (PAS) and escalate any issues immediately to your manager
  • To book patient appointments by telephone or post in line with the PAP and arrange appointment    related services as and when required (E.g. transport and interpreting services)
  • To be responsible for the accurate entry of data to computerised databases, using all computer systems relevant to the role
  • To create and maintain clinic schedule templates within the PAS, including cancellation of clinics and alteration of appointment slots as and when required and under supervision of line management
  • To ensure clinic lists and outpatient diary are effectively utilised in discussion with the appropriate    clinician and manager, and rebook any cancelled appointment slots
  • To attend appropriate meetings as required by the role’s line manager
