Open to Nursing students qualifying between Spring 2025 and Spring 2026

Thank you for your interest in commencing your Nursing career at Mid Yorkshire. Over the coming months, we are running a series of recruitment events very much centred on you. In keeping with our core values, we want to offer you an individualised experience to support you to realise your career dreams working at a nationally award-winning Trust.

We have a dedicated Professional Development and Education Unit (PDEU), who are leading the way nationally with their programme for supporting newly qualified nurses to make the transition from students to registered nurses. The PDEU team have won multiple national and local awards and most recently received the quality mark for preceptorship all in recognition of the work they do to improve the experience of newly qualified nurses working at MYTT.

During our recruitment events we will showcase key aspects of our services and share some of the amazing work at the Trust to ensure you are supported and valued within your preceptorship and future years as a Registered Nurse. Helping you to reach your full potential and feel confident to give the high standards of care to our service users across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

By attending one of our events, you will have the chance to meet members of our nursing teams, along with opportunities to ask questions to our graduates. You will take part in a competitive interview process but will be encouraged to discuss your ambitions and address any questions you may have.

To receive an invite to an event and so we can offer you the best experience, we ask that you provide us with information about yourself, your education and your aspirations by submitting an application. Please include in your application if you would prefer a specific speciality area.

We advise you to submit your application early to avoid disappointment as vacancies are limited.

Job responsibilities

We provide care and support to over a million people in Wakefield and Kirklees in their homes, community settings and across our three hospital sites at Pontefract, Dewsbury and Pinderfields (Wakefield).

Always striving for excellence, we are at the forefront of innovation and research, and we invest in teaching and the development of our workforce.

We live by our values of caring, improving, being respectful and maintaining high standards. We listen and learn because we aim to make Mid Yorkshire the best place to work and receive care.

We value diversity and welcome talent and enthusiasm irrespective of age, disability, neurodivergence, sex, gender identity and gender expression, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or other personal circumstances including providing unpaid carers support to someone with a health and care need. As ethnic minority groups, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people with a disability/neurodivergence are currently under-represented across the organisation, we encourage applications from members of these groups. We have policies and procedures to ensure all applicants are treated fairly and consistently.

We are proud of our staff networks - who offer valuable guidance and feedback from those with lived experience.

We have a clear vision and you could be part of this! If you share our values and you want to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families and carers, we would love to hear from you.
