Hours: Full time, 37.5 per week, working 5 days out of 7 Monday to Sunday working on a Rotational basis. all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We care for patients and care for our staff, if you would like to be part of a fast-paced busy in-house restaurant team then this is a good position for you.

Our restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals to staff visitors and patients, as our Chef you will play a vital role in ensuring our strict standards of food hygiene are met and completed daily.

You will work with a passionate chef team cooking from scratch with high standards and a passion for food. The team is led by a Head chef and a Catering Manager with Michelin starred food background.

We are passionate about food at MK and have high standards, we are looking for a Chef to strengthen our team ,if you love cooking and have flair and are self-motivated ,then this is the environment for you.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities Prepare and cook food according to planned menu, using standard recipes at the prescribed times, including the provision of special diets.

Exercise portion control following recipes guidelines achieving correct nutritional values, meeting strict hygiene rules and complete all legal documentation.

Ideal Candidate •    Good command of the English language with a passion for food and cooking and be able to liaise closely with all staff. •    Awareness of food & hygiene standards •    Must have a 'Can do' attitude. •    Able to work under pressure, individually and as part of a close small team. •    Physically fit and able to meet the high pressure demands of a busy kitchen. •    Previous catering and classically trained skills are essential for this role. •    Be aware that this is a hospital environment and at times you will come in to contact with patients that are particularly unwell or showing signs of distress. Assist in the preparation, weighing, portioning of all food.

The employee is expected to be familiar and trained with the relevant hygiene and safety legislation relating to kitchen areas and attend relevant refresher training arranged by the department
