Job overview

We currently have opportunities in our Domestic Services Department at Mold Community Hospital for enthusiastic, motivated individuals.  The Domestic Services team have responsibility for ensuring that standards of environmental cleanliness are maintained and we are seeking additional Domestic Assistants to carry out these duties within our hospital. Previous experience of working within the cleaning industry will be beneficial but it is not essential as the successful candidates will receive on the job training and supervision.

The Health Board offers excellent working conditions including a generous entitlement of paid holiday, enhanced pay for weekend working and an opportunity to join the Superannuation Pension Scheme.

Permanent contracts of employment for the following post are available:

Part time post (4 hours a week) – 2pm to 4pm - working 2 days per week on a Rota to include weekends

Rates of pay are £12 per hour, with enhanced rates for work undertaken on Saturday (£17.28 per hour) and Sunday (£22.56 per hour)

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain standards of cleanliness of floors, furniture and fittings, as well as removal of marks from walls/partitions/doors etc in accordance with set methods, standards and frequencies.
  • Carry out non-cleaning tasks i.e. washing of patients crockery, jugs and glasses and making of beds with clean linen (within staff accommodation) in accordance with set standards and frequency.
  • Operate cleaning equipment, including electrical in order to achieve the specified standards of cleanliness.
  • Handling of refuse for disposal purposes.
  • Replenish supplies of paper hand towels, toilet tissue, soap and hand moisturiser as required.
  • Monitor the stocks of cleaning materials, refuse bags, toilet tissue, paper hand towels, hand soap and hand moisturiser and request as supply as necessary.
  • Organise own day to day workload within work scheduling guidelines to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed to the set standard.
  • Complete documentation to record ‘full clean’ completed.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of specified cleaning methods and frequencies.
  • Communicate with Domestic Supervisors, patients, visitors, ward and departmental staff in order to achieve the specified standard of cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Board and Departmental policies, procedure and good practices.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
