We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have experience in the care of patients requiring trauma or orthopaedic treatment. Commitment, energy and drive are essential in being successful in this demanding role

Our Trauma one  is a busy 29 bedded ward providing care for Trauma and Orthopaedic patients on the emergency pathway. We work within a strong multi-professional team to ensure the best outcome is achieved for our patients.

Candidates must be experienced registered practitioners who can provide evidence of personal and professional development and who will be committed to the trust values and ward standards whilst supporting and developing a team.

It is essential that the post holder has a good understanding of the dynamics of team work, as they will be expected to work closely within the multidisciplinary team in the delivery of care. The post holder must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a positive outlook, enthusiasm and the ability to learn and develop new and existing management skills.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to patients and carers.

To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner

To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources

To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice

The deputy ward sister/charge nurse will have delegated responsibility for the running of the unit in the absence of the manager in the following areas such staff recruitment and retention, delivery of care plans and risk assessments, medication management and the development of the service. Included in this role will be management and administration functions to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the unit.
