We have two  exceptional opportunities for the role of Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse . We have one substantive position available, along with a 9 month secondment opportunity. Join us as a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse on A2 Ward, a dynamic 35-bedded unit specializing in Urology, ENT, General Surgery, and medical outliers. With a fast turnover of patients and an average of 38 patient discharges per week, A2 offers a unique opportunity to hone your skills in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.

As a Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, you will take on a wide range of clinical responsibilities, including assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality nursing care. You will play a key role in supporting your colleagues to ensure our patients receive the best possible care.

Your ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is crucial as you will frequently be the designated shift co-ordinator. You will also be expected to deputise for the Department Manager when needed, providing leadership to the team.

Main duties of the job

Duties for this post will include clinical duties such as assessing, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care and supporting colleagues in providing care of the highest standard.

Working with and leading the multi-disciplinary team, you will need to have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will need to be a role model, both clinically and professionally with the ability to motivate and manage, adapting to rapidly changing situations.

In addition to your clinical duties, you will support the Ward Manager in key management activities such as conducting appraisals, managing absences, and facilitating clinical education. You will be supported in becoming an efficient team leader, capable of maintaining both the highest standards of care and strong team morale in a fast-changing environment.
