Job overview

We are recruiting for a Deputy Medical Education Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The post holder will support the Medical Education Manager and Director of Medical Education (DME) in the provision of the management and coordination of medical education programmes across the Trust.

The post holder will assist the Medical Education Manager and various Tutors in the implementation of the Education Contract, as issued by Health Education East of England (HEEE) for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and trainees.

This post will provide a comprehensive and confidential service for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education across the Trust in accordance with departmental, Trust and national standards, policies, and procedures.

The post holder will be required to work with autonomy, managing own workload and that of junior medical education personnel, to effectively deliver a wide and complex range of administrative duties, sometimes with competing demands and of a sensitive and confidential nature.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the formulation of strategic plans to develop the Medical Education service across the Trust.

Contribute to the development of projects, and their implementation, in response to national, regional or local development in medical education strategy, to ensure that the department and its functions continue to remain aligned with the relevant external criteria.

The post holder will contribute to ensuring compliance with external stakeholder education policies and procedures.

Communicate with a wide range of individuals from internal and external bodies in relation to Medical Education activities and curriculum requirements.

To be required to communicate with staff with regard to a variety of issues which at times could be perceived as contentious, by demonstrating a high level of tact and diplomacy.

To assist the Undergraduate Tutor and other Training Programme Directors/Tutors with the management of sensitive issues, such as supporting students in difficulty, with performance or personal concerns, and referring issues to relevant Medical Schools where appropriate
