JOB TITLE: Deputy Lead Nurse –Luton Inpatient BAND: 8b DEPARTMENT: Luton Inpatient DIRECTORATE: BL Inpatients REPORTING TO: Assistant Director - Bedford and Luton Inpatient Services ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Mental Health Service (Beds/Luton)

Main duties of the job

• Overall Management responsibility for a set number of wards in the services.
• Nursing lead for Service developments in your area
• Work closely with the Head of Nursing to effectively manage beds, admissions, discharges and transfer.
• To provide strategic nursing input at Executive level and to ensure effective advice to the Head of Nursing and other management team members, in order to provide effective,  service user-focusedmental health services and a high standard of nursing care throughout your allocated service.
• To provide visible nursing leadership to nurses, offering professional and practice advice and support, and representing Directorate nurses locally and in Trust-wide forums.
• To conduct disciplinary and service investigations as requested by the Head of Nursing, and to advise senior managers in disciplinary hearings. Provide nurse advice at disciplinary.
• To work in close collaboration with Service Directors, Heads of Profession,
