An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Consumables and Materials Manager to support the Theatre Complex.

Here at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH), we have a total of 17 elective theatres, 4 emergency theatres covering General, Thoracic, Robotic, Vascular, Urology, Gynae, Emergency and Obstetrics specialties. The Hospital is situated 3 miles from the City of Norwich, next to the University Of East Anglia.

Main duties of the job

To provide a stock administration function for the Main Theatre Complex.

To maintain Theatre clinical area stock items and equipment to agreed levels, following a schedule of count, delivery and shelf replenishment.

To engage with relevant IT systems, such as the Inventory Management System, and assist in their maintenance/adoption across the department.

To assist in the opening and maintaining of service in new satellite theatre areas, such as the Jenny Lind pediatric theatres and NANOC.

To place orders with NHS Supply Chain as and when required. To place requisitions for non-stock materials management line as and when required in compliance with agreed product rationalization / standardisations.

Work collaboratively with the procurement team to ensure efficient service for the theatre teams. This includes direct communication with the wider multidisciplinary team from all surgical specialties.

To assist with establishing and maintaining optimum stock levels, and be directly involved with service improvement and development of new strategies to support the consumable management within the theatre area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Use the Powergate system for non-stock materials management (according to location), and any new system as developed
  • Count, deliver and appropriately store department stock
  • Stock rotation, stock movement and circulate and remove all non-moving lines
  • Respond to enquiries in an efficient manner, overcoming barriers to understanding through well-rounded interpersonal and communication skills
  • Carry out non-stock requisitioning where necessary, as agreed with your line-manager
