Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Vascular Surgery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful applicant will contribute to the work of the unit in the assessment and treatment of patients presenting electively, urgently or acutely to the vascular unit.
Surgeons would be encouraged to contribute to the endovenous and vascular access services or develop sub-specialty areas of practice.
The West Yorkshire Vascular Service (WYVaS) is part of the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) and is configured with two arterial centres; one is at Leeds General Infirmary (East) due to its status as a major trauma centre and the other at Bradford Royal Infirmary (West) due to its co-location with renal services.
The WYVaS (West) vascular network provides arterial services for patients referred to the unit, principally from the Airedale & Craven, Bradford City, Bradford District, Calderdale and Kirklees CCGs. The vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists work closely together to provide a comprehensive range of interventions for vascular patients. The vascular bed base is centred on a dedicated 28-bedded vascular ward. Outpatient facilities, a day-case endovenous facility, and elective and emergency theatres, and interventional radiology are all on the Bradford Royal Infirmary site, along with ICU/HDU facilities, inpatient renal unit and dialysis, and the stroke unit. Outpatient clinics and daycase interventions and inpatient referrals and reviews are also provided at the Airedale, Calderdale and Huddersfield Hospitals.
The vascular research team contribute to commercial and non-commercial trials in vascular disease and wound healing.
