Job summary

Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics. The post will have a special interest in Foot & Ankle. The Directorate provides services across 3 hospital sites within the county of Worcestershire. The candidate will benefit from working within a friendly and experienced team of 3 Foot & Ankle Surgeons.

As a Trust we are actively involved in developing the training program for students from the Three Counties Medical School based in Worcester which opened recently. We look forward to enhancing our links with the new Medical School in addition to well-established relationships with the University of Birmingham and the University of Warwick.

As part of the Consultant Advisory Appointment Committee, shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide a 5 minute presentation on the topic: "How would you set up a Diabetes Foot service in the Trust?"

Main duties of the job

The new consultant will be joining a team of 3 Foot & Ankle Surgeons. This post is a new additional post for the service. Together with the other consultants, they will provide a comprehensive Trauma and Elective foot and ankle surgery service to the County of Worcestershire.

The successful applicant is required to provide on call cover for general trauma and orthopaedic emergencies in addition to supporting the emergency service. Where appropriate the Trust aims to manage ambulatory trauma and urgent cases through a Covid free pathway in line with current infection control guidance.

Applications are invited from accredited specialists in Trauma and Orthopaedics who are on the Specialist Register or within six months of attaining the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST). Possession of a higher degree, recognised Fellowship experience and proven research ability is desirable. Applicants will be expected to have a broad experience in Trauma and General Orthopaedics as well as a specialist interest in foot and ankle surgery.
