Ashford and St Peter's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a new Consultant to join our team. We have had significant investment in our ED service in 2024 which has lead to an expansion to 18 Consultants. Our aim is clear - we want the best clinicians to join our fantastic team! We offer RCEM enhanced rates for evening and out of hours work on weekdays and weekends, with a job plan split of 7 DCC, 3 SPA. The ED is supported by some new outstanding facilities in the on-site Urgent Treatment Centre, SDEC, Clinical Assessment Unit and Older Person's Assessment Unit. We are also focusing on developing and improving our acute medicine services, in part to enhance the support that we can offer to the ED and UTC.

To work with Consultant colleagues and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure that the team and department delivers a high quality, well led service for Emergency patients attending Ashford and St Peters.
We are looking for an exceptional individual who has the ability, skills and vision to support and lead our excellent team of resident doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and administrative staff to improve our services to the benefit of patients and colleagues working within the Emergency department.
To work with the Consultant/Specialist and management team to:
-Deliver the highest professional standard at Consultant level to the department
-Provide a high quality well-led service for patients of Ashford and St Peters, including the assessment, diagnosis, investigations, treatment and management of patients, in accordance with Trust policies and practices.
-Deliver direct clinical care to patients, through all parts of the department, assisting clinical decision making and sharing equally in the workload/flows through the department.
-Review all potential admissions and development rapid assessment and triage strategies to ensure early investigations and disposition of patients is achieved.
-Have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, ensuring safe handover.
-Engage fully with the care of patients outside the department and provide a prompt opinion on request.
-Engage with medical, nursing and management teams and all relevant co-workers in the delivery of department objectives: to provide clinical leadership, improve patient experience and ensure the highest quality clinical care.
-Actively participate in and support other staff with education, research, audit, and clinical governance activities involving a multidisciplinary workforce across the department.
-Participate in the professional training, recruitment and development of staff in the department and contribute as required to teaching and educational supervision
-To support recruitment, appraisal, development and mentoring activities to an MDT team
- To undertake any other duties appropriate for a Consultant.
