Job overview

This role would suit an innovative clinical psychologist from Older People's or Adult Mental Health, Neuropsychology or Physical Health services who has the experience and skill to provide senior leadership and oversight of psychological therapies in our Bexley OPMH  Services (including a CMHT, Memory Service and Care Home Team).  There is a broad range of clinical work from complex individual and group therapy, couple and family work and consultation, to neuropsychology and rehabilitation. The post-holder also links into Acute & Crisis services, including our Mental Health Liaison team, wards and home treatment team.

You will play a crucial role in helping to shape the future of OPMH psychological therapy services, demonstrating leadership in clinical practice, service development, supervision, training, and management. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the quality and reach of our services, ensuring that we provide the best possible evidence-based care to our service users, their families and support networks. There are excellent working relationships within the teams and with senior managers within OPMH services and the Community Mental Health Directorate.

Main duties of the job

Psychological Therapies are an established, highly valued specialty within OPMH services. This role is well supported by a team of Psychological therapists, including clinical psychologists, CBT, systemic and art therapists, at bands 8b to 4. We provide a range of therapies, including CBT, systemic, psychodynamic, art therapy, CAT, EMDR, SCM, DBT informed interventions, and third wave CBT approaches including Mindfulness and ACT. Psychological Therapy services are very well respected within the wider Oxleas Trust and this is reflected in our Director of Therapies (Neil Springham, Art Psychotherapist) being a full member of the Board of the Trust alongside the Medical Director and Director of Nursing.

Psychological Therapies also have a key role to play in taking forward the Mental Health Transformation agenda and this post will contribute to that programme of development. Older People’s services also comprise a dedicated and collaborative workforce. Overall,  Oxleas is a warm and supportive place to work.
