Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse - South Team

CDDFT Community Respiratory Nursing Service is pleased to advertise a permanant Community Respiratory Specialist Nurse post working across the Durham Dales and Sedgefield localities. The successful postholder will deliver respiratory care to respiratory patients including COPD, Emphysema, Asthma, Bronchiectasis, and Interstitial Lung Disease, in out-patient clinics as well as in their own homes, supporting the specialist respiratory nursing service.

The successful candidate will utilise their outstanding organisation and communication skills to achieve best patient outcomes whilst being well supported by expert respiratory sepcialists to develop a range of competencies in delivering excellent respiratory care and support for this group of complex patients.

Undertake specialist, holistic, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical care for a caseload of patients with complex respiratory disease.

Be knowledgeable in respiratory disease, pathophysiology, function and management.

Provide specialist advice to patients/carers.

Be skilled in diagnostics including diagnostic spirometry and oxygen assessment, review and prescribing.

Act as an accountable practitioner.

Maintain accurate records as an autonomous practitioner.

Act as point of contact for the wider local community teams.

Provide education, mentorship and leadership for junior colleagues and students.

Skilled at assessing and managing risk.

Accepts the responsibility for decisions made and actions taken.

No requirement to manage/monitor budget.
