Job summary

We are looking to recruit Clinical Teaching Fellows for a fixed term contract from August 2025 to August 2026 to support our Undergraduate MBBS programmes for medical students years 1-5.

Completion of the UK Foundation Programme(FPCC) or expected to be achieved by August 2025 is an essential requirement for these Clinical Teaching Fellow vacancies.

Clinical Teaching Fellows will deliver teaching and facilitate learning for undergraduate medical students and Postgraduate Trainees. Teaching will be delivered within the classroom, Simulation Centre and clinical areas. They will further develop innovative teaching resources to supplement the existing central teaching folder. They will support the exam lead with the delivery of formative and summative assessments.

There are opportunities within the role to develop organisational skills in supporting the clinical leads in the planning and day to day delivery of rotations and university exams.

There will be opportunities and support to gain experience in educational research and quality improvement projects (where the timetable and teaching responsibilities permit). During semester two, fellows will be able to spend approximately two sessions per week in a clinical area of their choice in a supernumerary capacity to support their own career development.

Main duties of the job

The post involves supporting the clinical leads with rotation planning and collaborative working across the Trust site to ensure equity and appropriate teaching cover across all rotations. The post holder will be responsible in supporting the clinical lead in the day to day organisation of allocated teaching timetables. Candidates will network across clinical areas to support the recruitment of clinicians to deliver bedside teaching for some rotations.

A key part of the post is teaching and facilitating learning to all levels of undergraduate students and postgraduate trainees within the clinical area, via the virtual platform, within the classroom, Simulation Centre and clinical skills lab. This includes the academic support for students where remediation following a period of absence has been identified by the pastoral lead/leads. Teaching fellows maybe an immediate point of contact for those students in difficulty and will work closely to refer students to the pastoral lead/leads.

Although the post is based within a nominal site there is an expectation to cover Trust wide teaching, to be part of the simulation faculty for both undergraduate students and post graduate trainees
