Job overview

To provide specialist Neurophysiological investigations in both adult and paediatric units within the department.

Responsible for the investigation and reporting of the various procedures performed.

Working practices should be in accordance with occupational guidelines set out for each investigation, but you will have sufficient expertise to adapt practice to meet requirements of the service area.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical

  • To be an independent practitioner at a specialist level in the performance of simple and complex Neurophysiological investigations.
  • To be able to demonstrate ability as a specialist physiologist in most, if not all, the following areas:

To be competent in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard

To perform routine calibration and maintenance on equipment

To take a clear and concise clinical history.

  • Routine adult EEG’s both in the department and on the ward, including ITU
  • Sleep Deprived EEG’s in the departmen

B – Paediatric EEG’s

To have some experience in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard. Also need some experience in dealing with children with special needs, challenging behaviour and autism.

To take a clear and concise clinical history.

To perform routine calibration  and maintenance on equipment

Routine paediatric EEG’s in the department and on the ward, including NNU

Sleep Deprived EEG’s in the department

D – Nerve Conduction Studies

To have some experience in performing and reporting on the following to a high standard.

To perform routine calibration and maintenance on equipment

  • Upper Limb NCS
  • Lower Limb NCS
