Job overview

If you are a leader who can inspire, instil confidence, and champion the vital role of Occupational Therapy in recovery, we want to hear from you.

We are a dedicated, occupation-focused service, integral to our inpatient multidisciplinary teams. Oxford Health’s Allied Health Professions leadership team is committed to investing in Occupational Therapy leadership, and this role offers an opportunity to be part of our growing professional network.

This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with service leadership. You will:

  • Deliver evidence-based Occupational Therapy interventions in our established 11-bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in Oxford.
  • Lead and develop the occupational therapy service, overseeing a team including Band 5 and 6 Occupational Therapists, rotational OTs, OT apprentices, and activity coordinators.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance the inpatient experience for our service users.
  • Support the inpatient leadership team in implementing NHSE’s Inpatient Transformation guidance locally.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Plan, provide, and evaluate Occupational Therapy within inpatient services, ensuring evidence-based and person-centred care.
  • Apply the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and standardised assessment approaches to support clinical care delivery.
  • Provide 1:1 assessments and interventions in a recovery-focused, trauma-informed manner.
  • Assess for and provide equipment to support individuals in self-care and meaningful activities.
  • Promote least restrictive practices to enable access to purposeful occupation during admission.
  • Develop a team culture that supports staff well-being, skills development, and professional growth.
