An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Lead Nurse   to join our dedicated nursing team in the Radiology Department at the Dudley NHS Trust.

The post holder will be a senior clinical lead nurse with management/ leadership and decision making, responsibility for clinical matters / issues / concerns associated with the radiology nursing team.

The candidate will be required to demonstrate evidence of the   ability to fully integrate within the multi-professional team.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of this post will be to Lead the interventional Nursing Service and to support the community Diagnostic Hub with the radiology   team to deliver seamless care for patients accessing the radiology service.

Being a named point of contact for patients support and advice.

Provide knowledge and advice   regarding patients care pathway and patients onwards referral.

Develop key relationship with stakeholders to ensure quality of care to patients is maximised.

Be a nurse prescriber or prepared to work towards as this will be an essential part of the role to respond and prescribe, cannulate   and administer relevant medication that may be required as part of the patient care-pathway.

The Lead nurse will be an integral part of the radiology leadership and decision making of department, service and the radiology multi-disciplinary team.

The Lead nurse will be involved in the clinical quality audits and ensure actions and learning are shared with the wider team.

The post holder will work closely with the imaging matron, imaging management team and Clinical Service Leads in radiology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Lead and articulate clear standards of care for the clinical area. To act as a clinical expert and advise on the management of an interventional, radiology and the deteriorating patient with the radiology department

Lead by example in the clinical setting maintaining professional behaviours and communications at all times.

Demonstrate clinical competence in the Radiology Department.

Ensure visibility in the clinical setting working with the team in collaboration with the radiographers in delivering compassionate care.

To work in a Leadership capacity and acting as a specialist nurse/ clinical lead, participating in the safe delivery of care and standards, participating in inter-disciplinary discussion, relaying relevant information and ensuring appropriate referral, management and treatment of patients.

Adhere to ionising radiation regulations and locally agreed protocols.

Proactively talks to patients and their relatives, ensuring patients experience Family and Friends survey completed, outcomes discussion with the team to ensure improvements are made and good practice recognised.

Demonstrate a leadership style that is consistent and congruent with empowerment.
