This role is vital in supporting healthcare services by overseeing the decontamination and processing of reusable medical devices, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international quality standards, including ISO 13485:2016.

The successful candidate will manage a team of Decontamination Technicians, ensuring the safe and effective processing, sterilisation, and dispatch of all surgical and medical devices. You will also be responsible for training staff, developing work schedules, and maintaining accurate records of the decontamination processes.

Key Responsibilities:

•           Supervise the preparation, decontamination, and sterilisation of reusable medical devices.

•           Ensure compliance with all quality management systems, departmental policies, and regulatory standards.

•           Provide mentorship and training for less experienced staff.

•           Manage workflow and staff rosters to meet production requirements.

•           Ensure equipment is maintained and repairs are coordinated as necessary.

•           Participate in the on-call rota to ensure continuity of service.

Essential Requirements:

•           SVQ/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in decontamination.

•           Previous supervisory experience in a decontamination setting.

•           Experience with operating decontamination equipment such as washer disinfectors and sterilisers.

•           Strong understanding of infection control and quality management processes.

•           Ability to work under pressure and meet strict quality and safety standards.

•           Basic IT skills and experience using a database tracking system.

The successful candidate will undergo onsite training and some specific off-site training to meet statutory and quality requirements.
