The primary purpose of the care support worker within the transfer team is to safely escort patients from one department to the other within the hospital. This is in order to support patient flow and assist with meeting the NHS Urgent and Emergency Care Standards. The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and be expected to assist with the the care of the patient's physical and personal needs, ensuring a high standard of care is achieved, working within the agreed policy and procedures. Acknowledging individual cultural needs respecting privacy and dignity. The post holder will always work under the supervision of the NMC Registrant at all times, who holds delegated accountability for the work designated.
The role involves safely transferring patients between wards and departments whilst adhering to the relevant transfer policy and moving and handling policy.
May need to assist with the patient's hygiene and toileting needs, e.g washing, bathing, teeth, mouth care and shaving, escalating any concerns to an appropriate person.
