Job overview

This is an exciting time to join the Cardiology Investigations team at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals as we look to expand our provision of cardiology services. We are looking for a motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to work across the 2 Trust hospital sites (Epsom General and St Helier) to provide clerical & administrative support to the multidisciplinary clinical team.

Reporting to the Principal Cardiac Physiologist, you will  liaise with the cardiology investigations scheduler in order to schedule a range of cardiac diagnostic tests  and liaise with the management team, in order to provide the required administrative support.

A flexible approach and excellent interpersonal skills are essential in addition to high standards of customer service. It is expected that the successful candidate will have experience of working in an NHS environment and have an understanding of waiting list management.

The role is predominantly patient facing and you will also be expected to manage and support queries from patients, clinicians and fellow staff. Excellent telephone skills and good IT proficiency will also be important in supporting day to day duties.

Main duties of the job

1. To be responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the multidisciplinary team within Cardiology Investigations.

2. A significant part of this role is to be able to communicate effectively with both, hospital personnel and patients. To act at all times as a team member to support the delivery of high quality direct and indirect patient care.

3. To work with waiting lists for all Cardiology Investigations with full compliance to the Trust Access Policy for elective care pathways.

4. To provide a welcoming and efficient reception service.  Ensure that patients are greeted courteously, helping to achieve the smooth running of the sessions in liaison with the clinical staff (technical and medical).

5. To process telephone enquiries and correspondence from patients, other hospitals, GP's and other departments within the hospital and to liaise with the clinical staff where appropriate.
