Main duties of the job

  • To work as a member of Surrey Downs Health & Care to develop and provide team to the community in order to provide a high standard of holistic assessment, treatment, evaluation and advice to patients with lung conditions in the community, including pulmonary rehabilitation assessments and classes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To provide effective, efficient and high quality physiotherapy treatment programmes for respiratory patients in the community setting and within the pulmonary rehabilitation service. To lead assessments, group education sessions and exercise classes adjusting exercises according to patients’ health status on that day. To be able to undertake oxygen therapy assessment and prescription (Long term oxygen therapy and ambulatory oxygen). To act as a source of expertise on the management of respiratory patients providing support and advice to other health professionals/agencies both within and external to the Trust To communicate with patients in a way that empowers them to make informed choices about the management of their condition and engages them in the planning and delivery of treatment. Taking into account cultural, linguistic, medical, emotional, psychological and physical factors and utilising available resources to facilitate effective communication. To communicate complex patient related information effectively, to ensure collaborative working within the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
