We are seeking for a band 6 charge nurse to join our team on Sahara B. Sahara B is a 30 bedded regional neurosurgical ward for Essex, providing care to patients with brain & spinal conditions. You will work & be a part of our large multi disciplinary team. We are looking for an individual to help support our nursing team in the delivery of high quality nursing care, if you are reliable, organised and a good team player then we want to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • To support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in effectively leading and managing the ward •    Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse taking responsibility for the leadership of a team of staff •    To assess care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team •    To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and act as a role model to junior staff, undertaking performance management when required •    To act as a role model to junior colleagues •    To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and the ward for the duration of the shift •    To provide holistic nursing care to patients within the ward, utilising all resources to provide excellence in practice  •    To develop personally and professionally as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team and take part in appraisal yearly •    To provide teaching and mentorship to junior colleagues •    To contribute to the maintenance of a safe environment •    Reports any potential / actual problems to line manager and/or Matron when appropriate •    Act as a link nurse when required
