The post holder would cover type 1 complex Diabetes outpatient caseload (carbohydrate counting, insulin adjustment, insulin pumps and exercise management) as well as intermediate care for complex type 2 patients. This would include a mixture of Dietetic clinics, joint Diabetes nurse clinics and MDT clinics with the Diabetes Consultants.  The post holder would be part of the wider Diabetes team as well as the Dietetic team and would also be involved in delivering DAFNE training. Training will be given if not already DAFNE trained.

Experience in Diabetes would be preferable but not essential.  We appreciate that all applicants may not have the required clinical skills to completely  fulfill the role therefore we are prepared to offer clinical training to support this when applicants have appropriate transferrable skills.

The post is supported by Clinical Specialist Band 7 Dietitians as well as other band 6 Diabetes Dietitians, Band 5 Rotational staff and Band 3 Dietetic Assistants.  The post holder would be expected to help manage, support and clinically supervise Band 5 rotational staff, support staff, and Dietetic students/apprentices.  The department offers the full student training programme and the post holder would be expected to be involved in clinically assessing and teaching of students therefore experience in this area is desirable.
