An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Occupational Therapist to join our team providing a therapy service  across Queens and King George Hospitals. We are looking for innovative individuals who are excellent communicators and good team players. Successful candidates will have the ability to integrate into a multidisciplinary working environment. You will rotate on a 6 monthly basis across various medical specialites, care of the elderly, surgical, orthopaedic, stroke and neurological  settings Your ongoing development will be a priority with access to a well established  preceptorship programme The therapy service also ensures ongoing training.

Essential criteria for the post are: •    Degree/ Diploma in Occupational Therapy and H.C.P.C. Registration •    Broad clinical experience as a student or Band 5 •    Time management skills

All new staff appointed to posts at the Trust will be subject to a 6 month probationary period. This will give the new staff member an opportunity to become familiar with the culture and working environment of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

To perform occupational therapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive and psychological/mental health conditions.  To provide a diagnosis of functional status, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment plan.To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with access to direct supervision.  Supervision takes the form of formal training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review.  Access to advice and supper from a senior occupational therapist is available as required, clinical work is routinely evaluated.
