An opportunity has arisen for a Permanent Relief position Assistant Strategic Operations Managers (ASOM), working as part of the National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD). We are seeking forward thinking, outcome driven, performance focused individual with patient care, staff welfare, quality, and clinical safety at the forefront of their mind.
This role will support the Strategic Operations Manager who is accountable for the Scottish Ambulance Service Accident & Emergency performance coordination 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The ASOM is expected to analyse and monitor the utilisation of all physical assets, human resources, processes, and systems, and take appropriate action to ensure that these are being managed efficiently and effectively to meet anticipated demand, delivering timely, appropriate, high quality of care to patients. The ASOM is also the conduit into the Service for critical notifications from external agencies including Scottish Government and it is their role to act upon those notifications ensuring that the appropriate managers and resources within the Service are notified and if, appropriate, mobilised to respond.
This exciting ASOM role provides critical analytical, logistical, and administrative support to the SOM. Working directly with the SOM, you will undertake a wide variety of tasks. The postholders will assist the SOM in proactively monitoring Service performance, utilising their analytical skills to identify potential issues and to help inform key actions. Other associated tasks will include providing loggist support to the SOM, organising and supporting key meetings, gathering, and disseminating a wide range of information, dealing with a diverse range of enquiries and with appropriate guidance, drafting and collating related reports.
The ideal candidate will possess appropriate experience in an analytical and/or senior administrative role, preferably with previous experience within a clinical/operational setting. They will possess excellent communication & organisational skills, along with a proven ability to gather, analyse & interpret appropriate information to support evidence-based decision making. A key element of the role is working flexibly and collaboratively with others across the Service and beyond to deliver patient focussed performance.
The Permanent Relief Assistant Strategic Operations Manager will operate as part of a 6-person roster providing vital shift cover during planned leave and prolonged absences. Reporting directly to the Strategic Operations Manager, the posts will be based at NRRD Johnstone, with occasional travel across Scotland as required.
