An opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Psychologist has become available in our innovative and 'outstanding' (CQC-rated) forensic directorate; this post includes working across inpatient forensic services, learning disability and autism community services, and other relevant community organisations.
The post will provide significant opportunities for clinical work under the supervision of HCPC registered psychologists and MDT working.
The post holder would become part of a wider psychology department with excellent support and CPD opportunities.
The post would particularly suit applicants with significant existing clinical experience, especially in a comparable clinical environment.

The Assistant Psychologist (AP) role currently available is suited to people seeking to gain experience in the field of psychology, particularly in its application to forensic contexts. The AP role provides a wide range of opportunities to the postholder, including providing assessment and evidence-based psychological interventions (individual and group-based) to offenders diagnosed with learning disability, autism or other neurodevelopmental disabilities who are approaching discharge and post-discharge, and to support the qualified psychologist in these tasks. There are additional opportunities to develop skills in psychometric assessment, evaluation of intervention outcomes, and consultation with multidisciplinary staff teams and in quality improvement, The post holders will work autonomously day-to-day but all work will be under the clinical supervision of a qualified Clinical/ Counselling/ Forensic Psychologist.
