Job overview

Due to an exciting opportunity to participate in the INITIATE research study, we are looking for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner (AP) with an interest in research to join the Orthopaedic therapy team at Airedale. The post will be a static 15-month FTC to contribute to the parameters set out by the research study and supporting elements of the collection/analysing of data with support from research leads. The AP will be a member of the Orthopaedic therapy team and work alongside colleagues to provide a 7-day service and improve overall care we provide to Orthopaedic patients. The team offer:

The post holder will be required to have completed a foundation degree or equivalent and developed therapy competencies to progress to a Band 4. The post holder will also be expected to have an understanding of the requirements of rehabilitation and have experience of working with people with a range of health needs.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage a caseload delegated by clinical
  • Independently undertake  basic assessments and interventions relevant to delegated caseload.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of programmes and patient’s progression making minor alterations in consultation with the Orthopaedic therapy team.
  • Support the Orthopaedic team with complex cases as required.
  • Work with team members to ensure the effective functioning of the Orthopaedic team
  • Work in partnership with patients, carers, the multi disciplinary team and wider statutory, private and voluntary sector services.
  • Participate in activities to improve the Orthopaedic Service.
  • Provide support to other team members and students.
  • Work flexibly according to patient and service needs
