An opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Burns Dietitian , fixed term 2 days / week from April 2024 to cover maternity leave. From July 2024, However , there is also potential for this fixed term post to increase to 5 days / week until April 2025 . The role will be to join the Dietetic team and work with the Renowned St Andrews Burns Unit in Chelmsford .
The role will involve working within an established multidisciplinary team providing expert nutritional advice to patients while supporting and educating the wider team to provide patient centred care .
Clinical:1. To act as lead clinician for the delivery of a comprehensive Nutrition & Dietetic service to children and adults with burn injury or medical skin loss condition requiring hospitalization to the St Andrew’s Burn Centre;
2. To work autonomously to provide expert nutrition advice and therapeutic support to patients, carers and other health care professionals.
3. To be the lead Burns Dietitian for the burns service providing expert dietetic advice to the MDT including contributing to ward rounds, MDT meetings, case conferences, case audits, structured education programmes and clinical governance meetings; and liaising with all members of the team to advise on treatment and dietary management for children and adults with burn injuries or medical skin loss, their families and carers.
4. To provide dietetic advice on catering issues.
5. To plan, prioritise and take responsibility for own patient workload in accordance with the BDA Safe Caseload and Workload Management framework and departmental priorities.
6. To work with patients/carers and colleagues from diverse cultural and ethnic groups:• Respect personal beliefs and identity of individuals• Promote individual rights and choice• Promote anti-discriminatory practice.
