We are excited to invite you to apply for the role of Advanced Clinical Practitioner or Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner post  (under annex 21) to join the ACP Team based at Ormskirk Hospital.

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust provides healthcare in hospital and the community to 258,000 people across Southport, Formby and West Lancashire.

Surgical Care is provided at Southport and Formby District General Hospital and Ormskirk and District General Hospital. The Ormskirk site also includes Womend and Childrens, Endoscopy, Medicval Day Unit as well as Elective and step down Surgical and Trauma Orthopaedic inpatient wards. This role also supports the resusitation team cover at Ormskirk.

The post holder will be employed and supported by the Surgical Division  but be based within Ormskirk Hospital. The post holder will have undertaken, or already be working towards a Masters in Advanced Clinical Practice and have or be in the process od developing competencies specific for the role to enable them to work independently and autonomously in clinical practice.

Main duties of the job

The post is based at Ormskirk Hospital and will join the exising  team of ACPs suported by the Surgical Clinical Teams.

The post holder will:

  • Have an advanced knowledge of Clinical Care in an acute setting
  • Will support any resusitation emergency response on site
  • Function as a competent clinical practitioner assessing and managing complex patients and their families as an integral part of the team
  • Develop locally agreed advanced skills in response to service and clinical demand
  • Will have successfully completed a non-medical prescribing course and demonstrate ability to apply principles of therapeutics and safe prescribing
  • Work as part of the Suregical Division to provide site clinical cover for patients as part of the appropriate rota within Surgery. This may include rotation to nights and seven day working
  • Undertake transfers of selected complex patients between hospital departments for diagnostic and treatment purposes
  • Initiate and participate in audit and research projects relevant to the specialty
  • Will be accountable for his/her actions and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct/ Health Care Professionals Council Code of Conduct
  • Will act in accordance with the local Trust and statutory guidelines and policies
