Job overview

Start on or after 1st April 2025

The Trust is in the process of setting up its in-house Tobacco Dependency Treatment Service in Boston and Grantham and is looking for an exceptional lead nurse to establish and manage the team and develop the infrastructure to ensure a highly effective service, providing clinical input.

The post holder will support the clinical roll out of a Trust-wide Tobacco Dependence Treatment Service which will provide the offer of NHS-funded tobacco treatments services for all people admitted to hospital who smoke. They will work closely with the Trust clinical leads and local clinical community stop smoking leads. They will ensure the service is planned and managed effectively, ensuring the successful delivery against agreed timelines and plans, and for the management and resolving any clinical risks.

Main duties of the job

The LTP commitment for Tobacco Dependency is not only to support people to quit smoking, but it also provides us with greater opportunities to tackle tobacco addiction and the wider issues associated with tobacco such as second-hand smoke, reducing the uptake of smoking tobacco and harm reduction strategies.

This is a new and evolving service running Monday - Friday initially with an expectation to encompass a wider circumference of shifts and weekends as it expands.  This role will be site based Boston and Grantham respectively. The post holders need the ability to travel to all Trust sites.

If successful, you will:

  • Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues within the team.
  • Work in partnership with service users (patients), their carers and internal/external colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
  • Deliver a high quality, evidence based service.
  • Demonstrate excellent personal communication skills.
  • Actively promote excellent team and interdisciplinary relationships especially in relation to setting up this service.
  • Have the tools and ability and experience to build a strong, robust and successful team.

This is an exciting opportunity to help the people of Lincolnshire to make healthier lifestyle choices, achieve the best clinical outcomes and support ULTH with our smoke free agenda.
