Our Financial Management Department are recruiting.  An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible professional to join our team as an Accountancy Assistant.

The Accountancy Assistant will work as part of a team to ensure the accurate and timely provision of financial information, support and guidance to the Trust’s Clinical Boards.

The financial management team are responsible for the monthly closedown, variance analysis, reporting and forecasting, as well as providing business support to managers, including high quality financial information and analysis to meet their financial objectives throughout the year.

  • to assist the Directorate Accountant and the wider Financial Management Department with the production of the monthly financial statements
  • to ensure that corporate reports are produced as per timetable
  • to ensure that financial controls are maintained within Corporate Governance guidelines
  • responding to queries from Directorate and Departmental Managers

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The ideal candidate will support the Financial Management Department in various tasks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.

You should have have the ability to work within set routines and have good communication skills with a good knowledge of financial and non-financial computer systems.  Additionally you should have the ability to be able to work independently and as part of a team to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to.

Duties include:

  • Assisting the Financial Management Team with the production of the monthly financial statements.
  • Production of monthly financial reconciliations while also carrying out financial analysis work such as investigating variances.
  • Responding to queries from Clinical Board, Directorate and Departmental Managers.
  • Ensuring that financial controls are maintained within Corporate Governance guidelines.

Please note it is a requirement of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who require a DBS for the post they have been offered pay for their DBS certificate. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first month’s pay.
