Job overview

Due to a recent restructure in the Pharmacy department we are able to offer a new and exciting role within Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundations Trust to be a Lead Pharmacist.

We are looking for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to lead and develop our pharmacy service both within Emergency Care areas as well as providing dedicated specialist input to the Frailty service. As well as being able to demonstrate strong leadership and service development skills, you will be able to exercise advanced clinical skills by participating in ward rounds and within MDT discussions. Strong communication skills and team working is essential as you will be working with a wide range of healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

Following a thorough and structured induction programme you will join our team of ward-based clinical pharmacists. The role includes:

To participate in the provision of a full pharmaceutical service to the Emergency Care areas as well as providing dedicated specialist input to the Frailty service.

To practice as a fully registered non-medical independent prescriber (following appropriate training).

To develop, implement, monitor and evaluate protocols and guidelines within the Emergency Care areas (including Frailty).

To provide out-of-hours emergency services to include evenings, nights, bank holidays and weekend. To participate in the pharmacist departmental late night, bank holiday and on call rotas.
