Job overview

The Respiratory Care Unit is looking for 2 permanent Band 6s who are highly motivated and committed individuals with experience of working within the Respiratory speciality.

In our 8 bedded Respiratory Care Unit we provide level 2 care for a wide variety of acutely ill respiratory patients, with many Patients requiring NIV, CPAP, High Flow Oxygen, long term ventilation, tracheostomy care and/or close monitoring. In addition, Invasive Line Monitoring such as Arterial and Central Lines, PCAs and Epidurals. This band 6 nurse role will consist of providing expert respiratory nursing care to these complex patients and lead by example in compassionate and quality care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support the Band 7 Ward Manager to Lead a team of staff to provide a high-quality service: ensuring excellent standards of patient care are delivered and maintained, and deputise in the absence of the ward Manager

We will expect you to accommodate a flexible shift pattern, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to manage time, prioritise workload along with the ability to work under pressure.

Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a program of evidence-based nursing care to a group of patients

Leadership and supervision of others carrying out all aspects of the caring process

Actively contribute to the setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care

Participate in the effective clinical leadership and management of the Unit

Actively contribute to the improvement of services and quality of care provision to meet the needs of patients, service users and their families

Act as a role model, mentoring, teaching, assisting and supporting students and learners on placement and participate in the education, development and mentorship of other staff
