We have a vacancy for Nurse Vaccinator to support a new vaccine programme for pregnant women alongside the current vaccination offer.
We are looking for an enthusiastic registered midwife or nurse to facilitate the maternity immunisation service. The appointed candidate will posses exemplary communication skills to complete our team delivering this vital protection to our families during pregnancy.
The post holder will promote the programme to pregnant women to improve the uptake of vaccines in pregnancy in addition to running daily planned clinics and ad hoc to deliver flu, pertussis and RSV vaccines.
Our ideal candidate is confident with clinical records systems, skilled in discussing the benefits of vaccinations in pregnancy and efficient in delivering these in a fast paced environment
This is a fixed term post for 24 months initially.

Main duties include:
To contribute to the delivery of a high-quality antenatal immunisation service to pregnant women to increase the uptake of influenza, pertussis, RSV and other necessary immunisations by pregnant women
To support the planning, implementation and evaluation of the antenatal immunisation programme delivery
To provide advice and information about immunisation to educate staff, antenatal women and other stakeholders
To take a woman-centred and public health approach to improve health and tackle inequalities.
To maintain and update electronic records.

Key Responsibilities 1.The post holder will be required to maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to promote and increase awareness of the maternal immunisation programme. 2.The post holder will work collaboratively with wider system partners to encourage and influence endorsement of the maternal immunisation programme and contribute to target non-attenders and improve uptake. 3.The post holder will attend the quarterly screening operational meetings to update the wider maternity team, to support and encourage service wide promotion of maternal immunisations. Behaviour & work approach: 4.Manage and prioritise own workload. 5.Work as an effective team member, demonstrate good personal communication skills and actively promote excellent team and interdisciplinary relationships. 6.Demonstrate appropriate assertiveness and ability to challenge others when the rights of citizens may be affected. 7.Display good analytical ability and sound decision making in changing clinical situations. 8.Demonstrate concise, accurate, timely record keeping and ensure that all work carried out is recorded accurately. 9.Provide skilled, evidence-based care which adheres to agreed policies and procedures. Patient safety and clinical governance: 10.Use clinical judgement and risk assessments to keep the citizens as safe as possible. 11.Follow the centre and national policies including Patient Group Directions (PGD’s) and national protocols or standard operating procedures are followed. These include SOPs on the safe storage, administration and disposal of the vaccine. 12.Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of the health, safety and security of self and others in work area. Assist in the identification and assessment risks in work activities. 13.Practise in accordance with the professional, ethical and legal codes of the site and its protocols and guidelines. 14.Work with team to maintain high standards of infection control in the clinical area and a well-maintained department environment 15.Actively promote diversity and sustain relationships that promote dignity, rights and responsibilities. MWL168 – Vaccinator, September 2024 16.Ensure that the practice complies with Data Protection/ Confidentiality/ Caldicott principles in addition to Statutory and Regulatory guidelines of the Professional Bodies (NMC, GPhC, HCPC and others). 17.Safeguard people by recognising and responding when an adult or child might be at risk from abuse but also recognising their own limits and asking for help and escalate concerns when necessary. 18.Reflect on everyday practice to identify areas where improvements in safety or quality can be made. 19.Maintain compliance with staff mandatory training requirements
