This is an exciting opportunity for you to become a member of our friendly, dynamic community team. Consisting of technical instructors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists you will be a part of a rewarding and patient centred service, committed to providing evidence based intervention.
The Adult Community Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Team is based at Dewsnap Lane Clinic and provides rehabilitation for people aged 16 or over who either live in Tameside and Glossop or who have a GP in Tameside and Glossop. This excludes certain patients who live in Mossley as their physiotherapy services are provided by Northern Care Alliance NHS FT.
Utilising your knowledge and skills, you will work closely with the service users, their family, their carers and other professionals from statutory and non statutory agencies, to offer consultation, advice, education and goal focused episodes of therapy. You will be a competent and confident practitioner, as the team’s present structure means you will be responsible for clinical supervision and education of other staff.
As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will understand the benefits to be gained from a team approach, where each team member’s contribution is valued and where experience is shared.
Our team is committed to supporting personal and professional development.
This position requires the post holder to be able to travel (often at short notice), and carry bulky and/or heavy equipment between diverse clinical and non-clinical environments and bases, including patient’s homes, GP clinics, primary care facilities, community centres, hospitals, office spaces and residential/nursing homes, so access to reliable transport is essential. The post holder will be expected to complete four individual AM and four individual PM clinical contacts a day, at separate addresses, to maintain provision of our services.
Carry out occupational therapy assessments, plan and deliver treatment and offer education and support to patients and their families, in a variety of community settings.
You will be expected to practice autonomously but work as a part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team. You will be expected to carry a complex clinical caseload and be required to delegate work to support staff. You will be responsible for specific areas of service development and deputise for Band 7 when appropriate.
