NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of a band 5 staff nurse to work in one of our Older people mental health wards in Leverndale hospital. Banff ward is a 20 bedded functional assessment ward in Leverndale Hospital.
The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the context of an inpatient ward, will have responsibility for the assessment of patient care needs and the development and evaluation of programs of care. They will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals and in line with agreed standards and clinical policies.
Regularly taking charge of the ward and the supervision and teaching of junior staff, both qualified and unqualified will be an important aspect of the role as will be the mentoring of nurses undergoing basic or post-basic training.
