Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidates will join a friendly and enthusiastic team including clinicians, clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, plaster technicians and secretaries.

The Department of Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedics provides elective orthopaedic and emergency limb trauma care to the local population and the wider East of England region.

We provide both general and specialist orthopaedic and trauma care. Specialist services include a dedicated Ponseti clinic, specialist neuromuscular and spina bifida clinics, limb deformity correction and a DDH clinic. We work closely with colleagues in paediatric neurology, rheumatology and radiology.  We also have close links with the adult trauma and orthopaedic team.  As a part of the Major Trauma Centre, PICU also provides support for the paediatric trauma for the region.  We are active members of the regional Paediatric T&O Operational Delivery Network.

CUH, together with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Foundation Trust and Cambridge University, are well on the way in developments to build a new Cambridge Children’s Hospital on the Addenbrookes campus. This will include fully integrated physical and mental health wards, a 16 bedded PICU as well as dedicated University space for paediatric research. Work is underway with the building which is expected to open in 2028.
