Job overview

You will be employed by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and will be based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.  You will: •    Liaise with the relevant senior pharmacy, medical and nursing staff, other allied health professionals (AHPs) and managers to promote safe, evidence based and cost-effective use of medication in Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Palliative Care department.  •    Provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to designated wards/clinics as part of the paediatric oncology pharmacy team, primarily to include C2 and PDU. •    Prescribe medication for individual patients within the agreed scope of practice and according to the CUH pharmacist prescribing policy; •    Participate in and lead where required on novel pharmacy projects in the care of patients in designated clinical area; •    Identify and undertake research to inform practice developments and underpin delivery of an effective, evidence-based pharmacy service. •    Provide pharmacy leadership to the Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and Palliative Care sub-directorate. •    Assist the Lead Pharmacist – Paediatric Oncology, ODN and Trials to provide Divisional support as required. •    Assist the Lead Pharmacist Cancer Services medication safety initiatives.

Main duties of the job

Provide pharmacy leadership to the Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and BMT services.

Act as a pharmacist independent prescriber in Paediatric Haematology, Oncology and BMT or work towards achieving this qualification.

Manage compassionate supplies and early access scheme as per Trust policies.

Assist in the setup and maintenance of paediatric oncology and haematology clinical trials.

Identify and develop new models of care which may include pharmacist involvement in MDTs, ward rounds or clinics

To assist with the implementation of NICE guidelines/TAs & patient safety alerts related to the directorate.
